HOW TO: Request a Temporary (Floater) Employee

2Complete your request on-line
  1. For UCI Campus departments, go to Quick Temp to begin processing your request.
  2. For UCI Medical Center departments, complete the Temporary Personnel Request Form. After receiving signature approval, go to Quick Temp to process request. Then fax the signed Temporary Personnel Request Form to CTES at (949) 824-7007.
3Communicating with a CTES Staffing Specialist
  1. A Staffing Specialist from CTES will contact you to confirm your request and review essential skills.
  2. The Staffing Specialist will also interview and assess applicants and present an employee that best fits your requested skills.
  3. CTES and department agree on a start date.
4Orienting and training your temporary employee
  1. Provide an orientation of the department.
  2. Discuss departmental guidelines and structure.
  3. Discuss work hours, breaks, and basic work rules for your department or school.
  4. Discuss workload expectations.
  5. Use the Department Orientation Checklist to assist you in covering important information. Please fax the completed checklist to CTES at (949) 824-7007 on the employee's first day.
5Ending an assignment
  1. If the assignment is ending or you do not need the continued services of your temporary employee, call CTES at (949) 824-7317 or (949) 824-8282.
  2. Provide CTES with feedback on the temporary employee's general work performance and attendance on the Evaluation Form. This assists CTES in placing the temporary employee in future assignments.
  3. CTES will notify the temporary employee of the assignment's completion and will place them in future assignments if their performance and attendance is satisfactory.
